Straight Numeric

This system is most often used for large volumes of records exceeding 5,000 folders. This is the arrangement of files by number, in sequential order, from the lowest to the highest number.
There are no duplication of files as each number is unique. You increase file confidentiality using this system when you reference the number to an alphabetic cross-reference. The system works well with applications like invoices, accounts numbers, insurance claims, etc.
 

 

Alphabetic Filing

This is the most widely used filing method for systems with less than 5,000 records. You can file by name, individual, business, or any other category. Alphabetic systems allow access to information that does not have to be cross referenced
